Nets doing some talking

So this week we hear Rodney is in talks with the Bobcats for about the millionth time trying to get a deal done for Melvin Ely....haha Melvin....aha.

Anyways...I don't really know who runs the ship in C-town but whoever it is...MJ, Bickerstaff, Bob Johnson, Nelly, the live audience at 106 and park...they are deffinatley smokin' some heavy materials.

They have been watching too much BET, seeing all the rappers throwin' Benjamin's in the air, those crazy lunatics want a cool million dollars and a pine cone (Jeff McInnis) for Melvin Ely...haha Melvin.

Some reports even have it that they want a first, others say a second. I'm fine with giving a second, and you have no reason to worry because that first isn't going anywhere.

-----------------------

There is also a possibility of inquiring about Stromile Swift (greatest name in the history of creation) as he seems to be on the market and Rodney has inquired about him in the past, such as when SAR was lost. Intriguing but he is a dipshit. But all he would need to do would be dunk...hard.

So as well as good trade omens, the Nets have managed to win a couple in a row, last night thanks to the snake man Mikki Moore, as well as Senor Casa, and a good effort from Peg Leg Jefferson.

The team is starting to come together, and have a little vaca before they take on possibly the best team in the East on friday at the 'lands.

Mr. Charisma

This reminds me of the early years Nenad Kristic interviwes...filled with 10% "uhh yehs" and 90 % bobble head. Thanks to deadspin for this find.

By the way...Steven A. Smith has rubbed one out to this at least 6 times today.

"SlA-VA-Med VADE-nko!!!"

They're In!
RB Tiki Barber
Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday I was out all day.

Anyways, after all that losing, the Giants somehow found a way to get into the playoffs, even if they didn't want to. All in thanks to Tiki, who seemed to break off a 50 yard run whenever the team tried to ruin his last year in the NFL again. Thank you Tiki, for caring about the fans. We know you are "damn good". They tried as hard as they could to lose that game, but they suck so bad they couldn't even accomplish that goal....so Big Blue is in the playoffs baby!

That is, unless this ridiculous Green Bay/strength of schedual (is this the BCS?) bull shit goes down. And if that happens I will put it on record right now that I will never watch a NFL football game in my life. I may go as far as to light the league offices on fire but don't count on it.

Giants playoff debacle update

I just heard on the fan that Jeremy Shockey will be out for the last game of the season. It's not like Eli would have gotten him involved anyway.

My bad
Texas Bowl

In my sleepy stuper of a morning update, I forgot to mention the pride of New Jersey, Rutgers.
They won their first bowl game ever over Kansas State last night in a romp. I'm not going to try to act like I am a hard-core Rutgers fan, or like I have some bullshit connection to the school (Rey Rice's cousin), but I just wanted to give some props to the team that basically sent an explosion through New Jersey for a good couple of weeks.

Seriously, I think pieces of the south end of Jersey broke off and floated out to the Sargrasso Sea (check a map), only a handful of people died...but it's not like they mattered...they were all Philly fans anyways. Posers.

Congratulations Rutgers, "Keep Choppin'"

Update:

-Wanchope is officially off the Red Bull target list, as the Tokyo rumor was true all along. Way to be a bitch Paulo...have fun playing Wii.

-Yank's Zito rumors end as he agrees to deal with the Giants.

- Strahan is so much of an animal that he does not need foot surgery. It is also reported that he will be back in Giants uniform for the 2007 season. Let's hope he can actually make it on the field consistantly this time.

- And finally there have been a lot of Nets trade rumors going around...almost all including Vince Carter. Most of these are false. There have been rumors of sending him out in a package to get Zach Randolph of the Jailblazers and things of that sort. But if some turn out to be true it is a shame that Vince has to be the scapegoat for this shitty start.

What more do you want people? Don't tell me more effort because that is bull. It is ignorant to say he is not giving effort to pick up a win everytime he steps out on the court.

Taylor Graham's least favorite favorite Christmas present was a remote control whoopee cushion

Funny article MLSnet
about MLSers least favorite Christmas present. One of the funnier things I have read all week. Marvell Wynn does not like power ranger frisbees, Todd Dunivant is not a fan of airplane ornaments, and Taylor Graham is confused by this whole "interview" process. Where are the brains Alexi?

Speaking of Alexi, be on the lookout for one of the worst attempts at being funny I have ever read/seen in my life. The only funny thing about Alexi is clearly his ginger mop, and once he realizes this it will make the world a better place.

Heads up:

I will not be making any Nets posts in the up comming days unless those posts can be written without describing the team as "fucking horrible" as Lawrence Frank likes to say.

Welcome to the Hot (cold) Stove

In order to get all of our mind's off the horrific play of those North Jersey teams that are actually in action these days...let's focus on the promise of the offseason. A place where you are an automatic contender for the season ahead and no one can tell you different. A place where even a signing like Scott Padgett can be said to be the savior of the team. Ain't it nice?

Ok, so in Yankee land we have been hearing of some sort of Randy to D-Backs frees up space for Zito scenario...which in my opinion is not to credible. I personally think it to be a smoke screen by Zito's agent Rat Borass to give the apperance of a market for Zito, in order to drive the Mets number up. I can buy the Unit to the D-Backs...but I am overall skeptical on the Zito sitch.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then we have the most promising squad in the region...no, not the New Jersey Pride (complete guess at those low lifes name) of the MLL, it is the New York Red Bulls. BBC reported today that possible Red Bull target Figo is looking to go to Saudi Arabia. Bad for the immediate...but the fact that this contract is said to give Figo more flexibility gives optomism to an eventual trip to MLS in is future. I don't want him if he is going to play 2 or 3 years in the Saudi Arabia and THEN come over...no thanks.

A "pop"... and then silence

Sorry for the hiatus of late, there has really been nothing to post about.

Last night, Nenad's knee went pop (torn ACL) and is out for the season. There goes the only post socrer we had. Get well soon Nenad.

The only things that will happen in the aftermath directley relating to this injury are that: 1.) The Nets will be able to scale down the dough on Nenad's new contract, 2.) Josh Boone will be looking to get increased playing time, unless for some reason Frank wants to play Collins 40 minutes a night, and 3.) Thorn will pickup the number of calls he makes looking for another big, he is now more likely to let go of that first rounder.

Josh Boone: The time to show you can do more than put on a top notch "sleepy mute" face is now.

Reyna...now close to a RBNY deal?

It was reported on Univision (then posted on metrofanatic) that Claudio Reyna is now "close" to signing a deal with Red Bull New York. This may surprise some because of Claudio's comments about not leaving Man City in January...but you had to feel it was a possibility, as I wrote in my Red Bull rumor report (if this report is true).

I personally just want this thing to get rolling, I want to see what the true possiblities for this team are in what caliber of player we can bring over here. This would be a great start.

Nets outwork the Cavs as Carter outshines LeBron
New Jersey Nets' Vince Carter attempts to drive to the basket as he is guarded by Cleveland Cavaliers' Larry Hughes, right, during first quarter NBA basketball Wednesday night, Dec. 20, 2006 in East Rutherford, N.J.
The thing that made this such a good win for the Nets was that anybody who got playing time contributed to the winning cause. That included Jason Collins who overcame some early boo birds by putting in some buckets, as well as an intense, fist-pumping and one that drew the crowd to its feet.

The story of the night had to be Carter and LeBron, as Carter finally broke his slumber to bang in 38 points (beating LeBron's 37). The thing that made Carter's game so great is that he controlled things on all fronts; he scored the timliest of points, as well as got his teammates involved when needed.

Ok enough of the game recap, let's look at the wonderful world of the Meadowlands.

The most prominent thing going on in the stands was a fight that broke out in the upper deck. It was the poster child of the "stand up and have no friggen clue what the hell you are looking at moment". The entire stadium was practically standing, the situation even drew a look from VC himself...who took a nanosecond break to look up from his ball handling at the top of the key to see what the hell was going on.

The seats I had were great viewing range, but right behind the Cavs bench...which means I was sitting near a handful of people who are from New Jersey and have no affiliation with the Cavaliers but decided as soon as Bron came in the league that they were going to suck his nuts until the day he dies.

Plus, I was sitting behind these three dumb college girls who found it necessary to stand up throughout the entire warm ups. If you can't get a picture in your head...they were "that" kind. You know what I mean. The kind you just feel total second hand embarrassment for just because they are the way they are.

But it was a great win...and now the Nets need to focus on taking down Kobe and the Lake show in the same fashion, in front of 5,000 New Jersians who like to pretend they are from LA.

Meadowlands: Take 2 - CAA

Tonight I will be making my second trip to the swamp in a span of four days...let's hope this one goes better than the first.

I have been to Continental for a Nets game more times than I can remember but this is gonna be a wierd one. This is the dreaded "family game". That's right folks...the whole family at a basketball game. The number one problem here is, like mine, most families contain women...yeah...you can already see the problem can't you. And women don't go well with a raging maniac like myself at a big Nets game...especially if they don't play well.

The Nets can put all these problems out of sight though by playing well and taking a dump on The King's crown.

I'l have a full report on the sights and sounds of the game up late tonight.

Allen Iverson on his way to Denver

I just saw on OTL, as well as now on espn.com, that the Nuggets and Sixers have agreed to a deal sending Allen Iverson to the Nuggets for Andre Miller, Joe Smith, and two first round picks.
Nets effect: Vince Carter will now most likely be a starter in the All-Star game.

We got our Jap!

Welcome to the Bronx Mr. Igawa. Take that Sox. We can already tell Igawa is better than Matsuzaka in all fascits of life...simply because Igawa does not buy clothes from the J-Lo line.

What's cookin' good lookin'?

After the win last night I am in a "glass half full" type of mood, so check out my optomistic thoughts.

The Nets position ain't lookin' half bad...

Yes, the record is currentley resting at a cool 10 and 14...and yes, Vince Carter has scored a total of 35 points in the last three games combined...and yes, RJ has floating bone in his ankle but, the East is really, REALLY, weak.

The Eastern Conference leaders are the Detroit Pistons with a record of 15 and 8. They carry the first seed as of now and seem to be playing some really good ball...but even they are not out of reach. They only have 5 more wins than the Nets...5.

Many people who are not Nets fans probably think we have no shot at catching the Pistons, so having only 5 less wins than a team you cannot catch is not a bad place to be in when the team is "drowning".

Second in the confrence is occupied by the Orlando Magic, who carry a record of 16 and 10. Not to sound repetitive but they only have 6 more wins than the Nets. Considering the Nets ripped off two 10+ game winstreaks last year, I would hardly call the Magic "out of reach". Not to mention, out of those so called "contenders" in the East, the Magic are by far the most inexperienced of those teams.

The Magic's two key players are Jameer Nelson (second year) and Dwight Howard (second). Look up and down this roster and tell me if anyone of these guys is known to come up big in the stretch run of the season or in the playoffs. I will save you time, the answer is "no".

The Cavs...another really young squad. I feel almost bad for LeBron as his supporting cast honestley sucks. Let's just say they are questionable...but do not, I repeat do not, say anything bad about LeBron. The numbers are down...but say something and he will smoke your ass back to wherever the hell you came from. So just hope his fluondering supporting cast is enough to keep them down, which they very well may.

The Bulls...I have said since the off-season that this team is being way overated. And for the first part of the season I was looking right, until Ben Wallace got his windex back and decided to be the player he has been with Detroit. They are looking dangerous right now...but tell me who is there go to guy?

The last of the "elite" in the East...the Miami Heat. They currentley have one more win than the Nets...yeah I know, Shaq is injured, they will turn it on...blah blah blah. But will they? We will have to see how Shaq comes back from the surgery. Not only is Shaq getting old, the entire squad is. Gary Payton and Zo...the Heat must lead the league in AARP benefits.

So, I know it just sounded like I took shots at the top teams in the East, when it is possible to take just as many shots at the Nets, but just letting you know that, as of now, the Nets are not as dead as people think.

The Red Bull rumor merry-go-round

...A truley wonderful thing it is.

In these past weeks of no new news for the Red Bulls, as well as a North Jersey debacle on the part of all of my favorite teams...it is time for me to seperate the truth from the rumors...or at least make an idiot of myself trying to.

So let us go down the list of all that have been rumored to wear the most storied shirt in MLS history (joke).

Let's start lower on the blockbuster scale...

Danilo DaSilva - This is the rumor that is most likely of happenning at this point...all I can say is that it would be a good solid addition to squad depth. This rumor is likely because the club has repeated that they will look into bringing him back, as well as they had talks with DaSilva on the last scouting trip in South America.

Miloy - There is really no solid eveidence of interest yet except from this article from a site I have never seen before in my life. That being said this is one of the rumor's I would really like to see become a reality. A young guy who is good enough to play in the World Cup is good enough for the Red Bulls.

The fact that (if this report is true) the article says there has been contact, and that the "New York Club" has watched him, could make this a rumor to keep an eye on. I personally think that he is deffinatley on bruce's list.

Ronald Wattereus - Don't hold your breath...this one is looking very unlikely to happen...plus it would flat out be a bad signing for the club. A real waste of money.

Alecko Eskandarian - We have all seen the "throw away" line in the MLS e-mail... This is really nothing to get excited about...nor discount at this point. This is just signs of possible trade talks in the past or the present that have arisen with Esky's name in them. If MLS fans knew of all of the trade talk thrown around between clubs there head would explode.

Paulo Wanchope - Deffinatley the hottest name at the moment...with lot's of evidence towards a possible signing... both clubs have admitted talks. There is no doubt in my mind that Red Bull wants this man on the squad for next year, but the fact that they do not feel he is "DP" material makes things very confusing due to the very confusing and screwed up allocation system the MLS has in place.

Ivan De La Pena - This one came out of nowhere and died about a week later. All I have to say is the only way this is happenning is if Ronaldo is on the squad. Even then it may not happen. You have to understand that De La Pena is playing very high quality football at Espanol right now...maybe the best he has ever played some are even saying. Why would he want to throw that away?

Claudio Reyna - I know, I know...he said he was not going to leave Man City in January blah blah blah...what do you expect him to say? Reyna is not some dick face who is going to blab to the media that he is leaving...he is a classy guy. Don't look for it to happen in Jan...but Reyna will be on the Red Bulls.

Jon O'brien - He was rumored to be in the Guevara trade...didn't happen. Bruce will probably give him another look...but it won't happen.

David Beckham - I think we discount the possibility of Becks becoming a Red Bull too much. Look, he has always said either LA or NY...I think we came up with this fake statement saying he is deffinatley going to LA. He loves NY and I personally think RBNY can put together a better offer than the Gals if it is about the money. I am not saying he will be a Red Bull, but it is more possible than people think.

Luis Figo - I think this one is somewhere in between where this rumor as at a month ago (good chance) and where it is today (impossible). We know Bruce has said things along the lines of it won't happen but Bruce is not one to reveal all of his cards...just remember that. That being said...Figo is playing some damn good ball at Inter and may not be ready to leave that gig so soon.

Ronaldo - Ahh yes, the crown jewel, the prize possesion, the apple of every Red Bull fan's eye. This is all dependant on when he wants to come to the states. It is simply a matter of time. Unless he decides to ditch the MLS idea...look for him to be a Red Bull next year, or if we get unlucky the year after.

Giants fall to Eagles...lost season?

It started off like any great Giants Eagles contest at Giants stadium...chants of "Eagles Suck!" throughout the parking lot, bear guzzling guys in full hunting camo...this one had all the works. It was the prototypical cesspool of drunken hostility and verbal abuse...with a fan ejection about once or twice a quarter.

Then Tom Coughlin showed up and decided to be the Grinch that stole Christmas. Coughlin's red zone play calling was so bad, it had one of my buddies chanting "Bring back Fassel".

After the second pick that got returned for a TD, the stadium cleared out like the plague was setting in.

Does this mean the end of the season? It very well could...all though anything is possible. But if you are a fan of any of the teams written about on this blog...you understand as well as I do that the Giants will probably lose next weekend to the Saints.

Good luck finding another job Coughlin...I don't mean that...I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.

Morning/Afternoon Report

Ah yes, the lovely Meadowlands. Today I will be taking the trip there for the biggest game of the season up to date for the G-Men.

The Cowboy's win put a bit of a damper on the possibilities of the game, but hey, the playoffs are the playoffs. There is not much to say about this contest other than both teams are injury depleated and want to injure more players on the other team.

Even though the on field action is guarenteed to be intense...one of the things I love most about these games are when some sort of altercation breaks out a section over...and everybody stands...but no one knows what they are looking at...and then the men in yellow come to take the sorry soul away...and the place goes bananas. Entertaining stuff

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nets- After another loss, to another injury ridden team. This is getting old fast. Where is the 10 game win streak? Let's just say it is not comming...for now.

Thorn must be fealing the same way. Here is one article saying that if the Nets do not turn it round "this weak" then expect some rebuilding. I don't know what this guy's deffinition of rebuilding is, but I hope it is not the one I am thinking of.

Yankees- The hot stove is pretty cold as I write this. The only interesting tidbit I have heard (The Post) is this Melky deal for Pirates reliever Mike Gonzalez. Besides the fact that I find it a terrible decision to trade away someone who we are told over and over again to, in the future, contend for batting titles "throughout his carear", with power that "will come", it would be a shame to see all of those "got melky?" shirts leave the stadium.

Red Bull- Rumors have severely died down latley, except for Paulo Wanchope confirming contact with RBNY. Bruce Arena sure knows how to keep his stuff quiet...he is probably an absolute monster at Splinter Cell.

I'l stop right there, but later I will have a G-Men wrap up as well as sifting through the Red Bull rumor swamp.

The Nets Suck

If you didn't already know it...get used to it. This current group of players sucks as a unit right now.

So let me go down the line and take shots at almost everybody.

This is by far the worst I have ever seen Vince Carter play in a Net uniform. It is impossible to describe how bad he has been on offense the past two games. He can't finish when he drives, he can't hit threes, he can't get to the line...what exactley is he doing? How 'bout for once when Kidd is pushing the ball you don't stop at the three point line like it is an invisible fence and you are wearing a dog collar.

Is Jason Collins even still on the team? You would not be able to tell. I honestley could not tell you if he played past the opening tip.

Jason Kidd is not the same for whatever reason...what's up with the crucial turnovers just when it looks like we are going to complete a comeback? I have seen this numerous times this year.

Can't fault Kristic tonight, but over the better part of the year he has been a weak pussy with the ball in his hands.

Can't fault RJ at all to be honest because of his nagging injuries...I liked his approach tonight but still not all the way in attack mode.

I am sick of seeing this team lose to short-handed teams with the talent we have. It is absolute crap.

Ooooh this will be a fun rest of the season...win two...drop two...win two...drop two. You know what that gets you? A first round playoff exit if you're lucky. This team has no hope to even sniff a title at this point.

Wanchope possibility is getting warmer

Under the warm sun in beautiful Costa Rica, Richie Williams will be chillin' with his wife on the beach...for at least part of the time...we think. Wanchope himself has confirmed on his website that the he has had talks with Red Bulls managment...and is it really a coincidence that Richie Williams is about to be vacationing in Wanchope's home country?

Yes...I personally don't think that this was previously arranged...but don't bet against Richie and Paulo having some sort of interaction in the comming weeks.

This signing would obviously be an amazing step forward in talent level up top...but it does pose some questions for the dreamers like myself. Does this mean spending a "DP" slot?...Wanchope really seems to want to come here...but it also seems like some other clubs are competing with Red Bull for his signature...so it could very well mean a "DP".

Does this mean no Ronaldo? I have no speculation on this front...there is no way that the Red Bulls can push young Altidore to the bench with the promise he has shown. Is three fowards a possibility?...you never know with the influx of talent we have comming in....it could be just a rotation of sorts...but on the regular, it is hard to think Bruce will start three true forwards when he played either one or zero in Germany.

It's going to be an absolute frenzy

Just a warning, the next couple weeks are going to be a blogging frenzy. I have been busy latley as showin in my lack of posting, but I am off for a couple weeks and ready to explode. You are going to hear about everything on this very sham of a web page. If I take a dump and miss the toilet be not mistaken you are going to hear about it! So just prepare yourselfs for the comming weeks ahead.

Recap

Alot of shit can go down in about one day of not posting....here we go...

Nets: Even though it was against the worst team in the league...that win seemed to put things on track for the time being.

Some may say obviously just because it was a win...but look a little deeper and you will see VC dishin' off an easy dunk for RJ's benefit, as well as improved on-court chemisty with Marcus and Vince. The whole team seemed to be getting along and that can only improve the record.

As for changes...there will be no coaching change this year...and if there is a trade it won't be breaking up the big 3.

By the way...congrats to Jason Kidd on passin' Wilt on the triple-dubs list. Any time you are ahead of Wilt on a list (points, triple-doubles, women...) you are doing something right.

Yanks: Not much here...I had the Pettitte thing covered before my one day exodus...Matzusaka is on the ropes with the sox...about 48 hours until he becomes the Yanks to lose. Could we have three asians in the rotation. We could call it something like the "Asian Invasion"...it is just steaming with hot originality. We could totally use the Yoshi Story theme song for their entrance music.

Red Bull: Looks like I had a little more idea of an Adu trade going down than most other people...I just had the possible team wrong.

Wanchope is a free agent as of today...so if rumors are true look for Bruce to jump on that.

Also some rumor in a MLS Confidential email report about Aleko comming to the squad...no thanks. Red Bull and Scum do not make a good drink combo. Although Aleko seems to not like his Red Bull straight either.

Giants: Ahh yes....a win, call off the apocolypse. Now wouldn't you know it, accoriding to the talking heads...the division is almost ours! Wow! How the hell did that happen!?

In all seriousness huge game against the Beagles this weekend... Prediction: Our injury depleated squad is better than there injury depleted squad. G-Men win. Now Ron Mexico just has to do his job and we are set.

Boone ready to go

I don't want to go on another really long rant about the Nets right now. They have obvious problems which if you watch the games you should be able to point out yourself. One thing I have been pondering is why we have seen almost no minutes for Josh Boone. This answers that question.

He even says he is not "NBA ready" but is starting to feel closer to 100% with his shoulder and wants to contribute to this team. He should deffinatley be given the chance too...as Jason Collins is currentley, to say the least, not playing very well.

It will be good to see this guy on the floor as some fans have even said he could be a future starter for this club. I won't take my expectations that far, but I might try any old warm body over the 4 on 5 offense Collins provides at the moment.

From the dept. of things that are fun to think about

...but that will never happen...

I have been thinking for a while about Freddy Adu and his rift with DC coach Peter Nowak. In my head this is a scenario I came up with...Freddy can't go to Europe yet as he is not 18, and if Nowak returns as DC I highly doubt Adu wants to be coached by that bum again...so is it so out of the question to think of Freddy playing for another MLS team? Yeah, it probably is.

It is like the guy who wrote this story is in my head. I had thoughts of Freddy comming to Red Bull for at least until his 18th b-day to get coached by someone who knows what he is doing, as well as get the respect he deserves...as well as large marketing opportunities.

If he were to leave United and stay in MLS I would think that for those reasons that his team of choice would be Red Bull, but I doubt DC would give up the transfer fee Adu would garner. Anyway, as the league-wide kit sponsor tells us...Imposible is Nothing.

The Twighlite Zone

Now that Andy Pettitte is on his way home in a stunning attempt just to make a sick, 16 million dollar, Yankeeography, now there is talk that Clemens wants to also come on back to the house that Ruth built. Pettitte alone is a good signing (maybe), but his signing, even if he doesn't preform as amazing as we would all like, is invaluable if he can in turn bring us Rocket.

First off if Clemens comes as well, the rotation would be quite bulked up. That rotation would include Clemens, Pettitte, Wang, Igawa, Pavano, Randy Johnson, and also a newly resigned Moose. But even if the senior's club of pitchers flop, like many of our latest free-agent arms, it could still be a sucess. Let me tell you why...

Ok prepare to enter my Twighlite Zone. Since Rocket left, the Yankees have not won the series, and even worse, the Red Sox won a series, inturn reversing/breaking the curse. Now, follow me here... Before every game Roger pitched at Yankee Stadium, he would rub the head of Babe Ruth in monument park. Babe Ruth is also the generator of the curse isn't he? He was the one that started it all, leaving the Red Sox hopeless (how they should be) for what seemed to be until the end of time, until the Rocket left.

The ghost of Babe and Rocket obviously had some kind of special kinda relationship that when Roger left the Yankees, Babe reversed the curse on their ass. Bringing Roger back would inevitably then, put the curse back in the Yankee's favor. Sentencing the Red Sox to more doom, and bringing the Yankees the World Series title back.

Even if you don't think this makes sense...Clemens is a dick head...which is what the Yanks need. When was the last time they got in a fight... or threw at someones head (even if it is their wife's)...or threw a broken bat at someone. This deal can only bring positives even if Rocket doesn't pitch out of his mind.

Yanks sign Andy Pettitte

Ahh yes, the over-payed return of the most famous chin dimple in Yankee history. 16 mil is a little mucho for one year...but like it matters. I'l post on this tommorow and how it relates to that dick Rocket, and the curs of the bambino. Just didn't want my imaginary readers to think I forgot about them. You're welcome.

My b

I haven't been able to post much lately, and that is due partially to the fact that after last nights boring defensive struggle I feel like Steve Nash went inside my body and proceeded to carv out my larynx with a rusty buter knife. Not a good feeling. I'l make some posts later once my soul recovers.

Wanchope

Sick name...socres mad G-O-L's...supposed porn addiction (wikipedia)...

I just get the feeling this guy would be the absolute man. Read about him on Ives blog.

The only worry is if we get him does that mean no R9? Would he sign for less dough? Could we go three forwards...cus I under no circumstances will push Oatmeal to the pine.

State of the Nets

I apologize for the absolutley F'd up format this post is going to be in (fixed)...I'm writing this from a type of wood crank computer so gimme a break.

The talks of all types of changes are swirling in Net's land after another loss last night at the hand of the Mavs and rediculously poor shooting. Al Iannazzone talks of some of these changes in his article today. One of the things he mentions is that Thorn is unwilling to give up a first unless it is possibly for Chris Wilcox.

Al says the main reason the brass is so unwilling to give up these first rounders is because they are very valuable trade pieces that can be used to get something better in return...like the Vince (t)rade...where two first rounders were used. At this point these are the options Thorn has to save this sinking team.

1.) Don't jump to conclusions. The Nets have started badly in the past four seasons...why should this one be any different. If we are refferencing history...the boys should turn it around in about the next two weeks heading into the Christmas holiday.

2.) A few tweaks need to be made. Let go of the first rounder if Wilcox is a available...Collins on the floor is 4 on 5 offense... not good. Wilcox could be the pick-roll athletic forward Kidd has been missing.

3.) Make a coaching change...how many bad start...good rest of the seson...mediocre playoff years can this team have before a change is made. (I am not in favor of this...but a shakeup needs to be made,,,where it is made is up to he head honchos.) I don't like any of the candidates they would bring in...I stay stick with Frank. These are he kind of players you can tell may not deal well with a totally different style coach comming in.

4.) Go big. Pick out the pieces on the team that are felt to be "expendable" and see what is out there. My list of "expendables" depending on what would come in return would be Nachbar, Collins, Wright, Cliff (AARP benefits are attractive), McInnis (guys who go nuts on the bench are attractive...right?)...for these guys we would get a mid level power forward...in addition to whatever fillers Thorn could squeez.

Go really big. Marcus Williams and Richard Jefferson. I feel these are the most expendable really valuable pieces the team carries. What these guys coupled with some of those other guys could get you I'm not sure. I don't stock the real gm trade checker, but I think they could bring back something really quality. Could some combo of them and draft picks land you KG type forward? I don't think so...a disgruntled KG type forward...maybe.

Of course KG is the cream of the crop...but anythign in his range would be friggin redic'. It makes us a championship contender in everyone's eyes...not just ours. And usually when the media talks about you in that light...they are right. We always bash ESPN for bitching our casa but have we reall been a contender since K-mart left? No.

Now that leaves us short of a Sf...unless we get one back in a deal as well...can Write start if he stays? Who knows...he looks awfully shakey right now. But a lineup with Kidd, Vince and a top power forward with Curly would turn alot of heads...and bring a much needed shakeup to the orginization.

I'l end this marathon by saying that when Vince came in, he brought an unreal amount of energy to everything having to do with this team. I think they are needing another boost of new energy...it's just what the brass thinks is the right way to go about bringing this energy. If things don't shapeup soon...look for another holiday present from the nice folks in the front office.

UPDATE: I would not trade Marcus Williams. He is showing too much promise now.

Nets info

Ok, I haven't had much time to post today and still don't, so I thought I'd just drop this Dave D mailbag in. Covers alot of money stuff, like Collines, VC, trade rumors...

Among other nuggets from Dave is the best nickname anyone on the Nets has. I have no idea if anyone but Dave calls him this but how sick is the Eddie House nickname...Senor Casa! It totally beats Gilbert Arena's pussy Hibachi...have you ever felt the grill at Bennihana??? Not THAT hot Gilby...

Just a thought, if you're illiterate this is probably not going to work out for you...just a heads up. But I guess if you were illiterate you would not be reading a blog in the first place. But just incase you are...I'l drop a sweet Google Image in for you...

Ok, the Nets game is commin' up in about a half-hour and I just want to say if another one of my teams goes down to small d...Gramatica is the first to go...followed by Dampier. Remember that order...

Ronald Waterreus to RBNY?

The latest in a line of rumors of who may come to Red Bull. I would hope this would not cost any big money, as I feel the team has bigger needs than GK. Don't know anything on this guy... other than he has played for some quality sides...PSV, Man City, and Glasglow.

He is on a short-term contract with AZ Alkmaar at the moment. Supposedly he really wants to come to the US though. I have even heard he held a press confrence reacentley stating how much he wants to come to MLS. Fine by me, as long as he doesn't cost too much. I never resist a mullet like that.

Stuff

Let me start off by saying this will be the extent of the Giants rambling you hear from me until next week's game, but let me just say....Eli played great, too many key defensive players missing, it's a shame Brandon Jacobs doesn't play ever position, and prepare yourself for 24/7 Coughlin is done articles. Ok, glad thats done with.

Two reports on the Nets Magloire rumor today...one stating there is a very slim chance, and that they are looking into other options such as Haywood (reported yesterday) and Anderson Varejao of the Cavs.

The second report is from some guy, who read from some other guy, on a message board, that said he heard, that Ric Bucher said, that the talks are heating up, and a recent offer was Magloire and Zach Randolph for Collins and Vince. Sounds pretty legit to me...
(We now it's stupid Vince...you're not going anywhere)
If this was indeed an offer, it was deffinatley offered from Portland, as getting rid of Collins would provide cap room to SIGN Carter at the end of this year. Thorn isn't stupid.

That's it for now...let's see how these rumors shape up.

Jints lose...again

This post doesn't deserve a picture. The image is still fresh in our mind...Gramatica in full N64 videogame style "Big Heads Mode", frolicking his elf body around the Giants field. It is a truley awful image, that is only made worse whent he camera flips to Eli, simply dropping his head and walking away. I feel awful for the guy, he obviously played great and did all he could. The fact that one blown coverage on a roll out brought the fourth straight loss is down right depressing. It is going to be an uphill battle from here.

Jints look to turn it around

I found this article on ESPN with a few quotes from Giants managment concerning Tom Coughlin's coaching job. I find it comical how the front office admits to the players not liking Tom. Really? I always thought of Coughlin as a players coach ya know?

Still it's funny that they say in public that the players don't like him. If they lose again today...we will get quotes next week from the front office like "The players may not like him, and he calls shit plays, and hes a dick, and he cannot win a game, but we respect him."... wouldn't you be honored if you were Tom Coughlin?

After seeing my 600th Romo headline this morning (this was after I finally sucumbed to projectile vomit), I decided that Eli Manning must hate Tony Romo more than anyone. Tony basically stole Eli's girl...then lit his carear on fire. You can just hear Eli now "Grandma, why didn't you have sex with black guys?! What is wrong with you?!"

Now, people are even calling for the Hefty Lefty to start. Romo, just by winning a game, absolutley bitched Eli Manning's house. We all think of Eli as the genial southern gentleman...if he loses to Romo again this week I'm puttind the odds at 2-1 he goes ape on the media...or blows up someones house...yeah.

Set Shot Willy...on his way out?

Peter Vescey has reported that the Nets have offered Jason Collins and a second round pick to the Portland Trailblazers for Jamaal Magloire. The only problem is that Portland wants a first round pick. Vescey also reported that the Nets may have interest in Brendan Haywood of the Washington Wizards.

It would be sad to see Collins traded away to Portland, he's a great guy, he'd be going to Portland (yeesh), he's one of the best defensive centers in the league, he has an uncanny deep voice, and his departure would put an end to one of Marc Jackson's best nicknames..."Set Shot Willy!"

That being said, I think this would be a good deal for the Nets. Let's not forget that Magloire is a former all-star, and an athletic power forward. Isn't that what we Nets fans have always wanted since K-Mart left town (forgetting to bring his knees with him)?

It will be interesting to see in the next couple days if Portland gets what they want (a first rounder), because if you follow the Nets possible transactions, you know the nothing irks Thorn and Stefanski more than having to give up a first rounder. This deal could be the exception as we all ready have a great deal of youth to produce with four rookies this year.

Last Night: The Nets finally look to have fixed their offensive problems, with everybody getting in on the action. Of course Vince put the big number up with 41, but only on 22 shots, which shows that his points were in the flow of the offense, allowing everyone else their desired touches as well.

Next game is Dallas at home, they have to lose sometime right? It's just not natural what their doing right now...

Pitching? Pitching is for pussies!

(Nobody fucks with El Indio)

The yanks don't need pitching. Pitching was not what was missing in the playoffs. Pitching is not what we need to bring the wierdist looking professional sports trophy back to the Bronx. What we need is to bring back the greatest yankee of all time - Ruben Sierra.
(What a monster)
Seriously if Ruben ran things, we would'nt have a pitching staff. He'd say fuck pitching, you don't need pitching when you can hit a 450 ft homerun once out of a hundred at bats. Who needs pitching when you can swing as hard a humanly possible, and only manage a slow roller to third. Seriously, I'm sick of all these pussy Yankees.

Every last one of 'em is a pussy except for Jeets, Posada, and Ron Valone. Jeets isn't a pussy because he's bangin Jessica Biel, Posada isn't a pussy because he regularly pees on his hands instead of using batting gloves, and Ron Valone isn't a pussy because...well...look at the guy. I'd like to see you try and call Ron Valone a pussy...I'm not paying for your funeral.
("Bitch Please")
We need to bring back my all time favorite Ruben Sierra and cut the pitching crap. Rueben is worth every penny for every one out of a hundred times he hits a mother 'effin bomb, produced by his 8,000 mph bat speed, followed by a cocky bastard bat flip, and a stare of doom and destruction for the rest of that pitcher's life. You're welcome Brian Cashman...pussy.

Some quality info
once you get passed the reading part

It is alot of reading, and skimming through some pointless questions, as well as a fair share of "I don't know"'s from Ives...but once you get past that...there is some good info to be found.

Agoos/Arena is interested in bringing DaSilva back, maybe Mo Johnston leaked the De La Pena rumor to the Toronto blog in hopes of screwing Red Bull, and he thinks Red Bull will sign a central midfielder in the winter window.

The Daily

Nets: Tonight's Nets game against the Sixers will mark the debut for both Eddie House and Josh Boone...in probably limited minutes. Still, now is the time we can start to judge if this is a team that will be able to compete for a championship.

Boone will take a while to get used to the tempo of the game...but I am very excited about Eddie House. House brings something the Nets have not had in years, a guy who can come off the bench and put daggar after daggar in a team's heart. It is going to be fun watching this guy get hot from behind the arc.

Let's also hope that the arrival of House to the rotation will bring more fast break with certain lineups on the floor.

Giants: The G-men lockeroom is sayd to be in shambles, but I don't fully think that's the case. If you have actually listened to Strahan's comments about Plaxico on the FAN, he was not calling Plax out in an angry tone or anything.

He was just pointing out what Plax needed to do to be a better player. Now, we all know Strahan probably should have done this with Plax behind closed doors, but it wasn't like he was saying he was disgusted to take the field with his lazy ass.

Anyway, the Giants are standing behind Shockey's guarentee that there is "no way in hell" the Cowboys beat the Giants this week. Should be an entertaining game.

Yankees: Not much on the Yanks front latley. They are in negotiations with Kei Igawa, and as reported today, they will not be prusueing Ted Lilly.

I just have to wonder, who will Cashman go after if not Zito, Shmidt, or any of the other relatively big names out there. I'm think Cashman will beef up the rotation through trade, more than free agency.

Red Bull: The latest rumor for a "DP" slot are swirling around Ivan De La Pena. This is very interesting, because if true, it looks like an attempt to possibly reunite Ronaldo with his former play maker, De La Pena.

Look for more Red Bull information later today as Ives will be answering his questions porbably by today, many of them were asked by myself under various fake names...Lu...what a sweet name.

It's kinda like a sex change...only not so weird

from Bergen County
to Morris County
from I-287
back home...
this is North Jersey...

Yes, today marks the official death of He's Done It. But don't be sad, because recently some weird goth kid told me that death is the new life...whatever that means. In this case I guess it's true...as I have decided to not kill my writings, but narrow them...or at least tell you I am narrowing them. The new name North Jersey, NY - www.northjerseyny.blogspot.com, as I am going to focus more on a wonderful little place I like to call North Jersey.

This means I will also be focusing on NY, because we all know North Jersey and New York go together like "lamb and tuna fish", and we all root for too many of the same teams anyways. So prepare for some North Jersey/NY sports, with your occasional international soccer post, and your occasional Michael Irvin is out of his head type national sports ramblings. Let's mark this monumental date in history with some glorious information on New Jersey.

Ahh yes, an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to stereotypes and backhanded discriptions of North Jersey...this is North Jersey... We also have a wonderful aray of useless information on New Jersey as a whole...for instance...did you know that our state dinasour (you are flat out lying if you knew that there are such things as state dinasours) is the one and only Hadrosaurus foulkii...how interesting. Seriously, we have a state dinasour, but no state song...what does that say about our priorities here?...I have no clue. By the way, I'm actually considering posting more than only a couple days in a row with this one, so...get excited.
